The refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sectors are growing and need more people to train and work in engineering as well as non-technical roles. One of the roles of this website is to demonstrate how interesting it can be to work in refrigeration or air conditioning engineering!

There are many career opportunities at different levels - including hands-on technicians, designers, sales managers, installation engineers, consulting engineers, research and development professionals, teachers and administrators or managers.  These pages tell you more about the kinds of jobs available, what training can support you and what kinds of companies employ people in the sector.

Training for technical roles

16+ You can join the industry straight from school by following a Refrigeration Air conditioning and Heat Pump Engineering Technician Apprenticeship. or follow a TLevel in Building Services with a refrigeration option that will include work placement and practical learning at school

18+ Study for an engineering or environmental science degree and join a graduate recuitment programme run by an employer

21+ Continue your studies with research opportunities at MSc or PhD level at a specialised University
